Antibiotic and Growth Hormone Free (None!) RAISED on our FARM
Chicken
We will cut whole Chicken into pieces upon request. Beef Our cows have derived from the Shelton’s Dairy milking herd. Our first beef cow on the farm was a young heifer born from a Hereford bull we used to breed the young Holstein heifers. Her Hereford traits earned her a place as our first beef cow. As the farm ceased to exist as a Dairy we slowly evolved into the position we are in now. The beef we raise is all born here, raised here, until harvest. We do not buy in any cattle as the beef portion of the operation is only a result of pasture management (we only have enough animals the pasture can take) The cows are pasture fed in the summer and fed our hay in the winter, along with all the mothers milk they need. When the cows wean the calves and we decide which are ready for slaughter, we bring them to another pasture where they are fed grain and hay to help marble the meat for the best final product
$3.00/lb hanging weight + fees We raise our animals to order and there is a waiting list. To place an order send email to stonegds@comcast.net. The exact weight on beef shares varies with the weight of the cow. As a baseline, cows usually run 600 pounds hanging weight. (which is weight after they are slaughtered) The butcher charges us for hanging weight and that's how we sell the meat to you. So 1/6 would be about 100 pounds and a ¼ would be about 150 pounds. The exact weight of the share will be slightly less because there is loss when the meat is trimmed and cut for packaging by the butcher. We charge $3.00/lb, hanging weight for the meat. The butcher charges approx. $0.70/lb to cut the meat up and there is a $75 slaughtering fee, per cow which divided up according to the size share you get. (Ex: 1/6 share would be approx. $382.50 and a ¼ would be approx. $573.75). I try to contact people about 2 weeks in advance of pick up with the exact size and cost. All the meat packages are individually labeled and ready for the freezer. Each 1/6 share usually contains T-bone, sirloin, porterhouse, rib, chuck, London broil, and minute steaks. Along with hamburger, stew meat, soup shanks, and short ribs. A quarter share may also include top or bottom round roast, or eye of the round. A half can be custom cut to your liking. Pork
